Reappointment of Energy Safe commissioners

Energy Safe Victoria commissioners, Michelle Groves and Sarah McDowell, have been reappointed to their roles for a further three-year term.

The Energy Safe Commission plays a key governance role in ensuring safety remains a priority in the rapidly changing energy sector.

The Minister for Climate Action, Energy and Resources, and the State Electricity Commission, Lilly D’Ambrosio officially reappointed Ms Groves and Ms McDowell for a further three-year term each. Ms Groves will also continue in her position as Deputy Chairperson of the Energy Safe Commission.  

The two commissioners have a wealth of experience in the energy sector and are committed to prioritising the safety of workers and the community as the state increases its use of renewable energy.

Prior to joining Energy Safe, Ms Groves was the Chief Executive of the Australian Energy Regulator for almost 15 years, where she built a reputation for excellence in energy regulation and policy.  

Previously, Ms McDowell was the Energy Executive Director at the Essential Services Commission and had been a senior energy policy advisor for the Victorian Government. 

The Commissioners will continue to work with Monique Conheady who remains the Chairperson of Energy Safe’s three-person commission, having taken up the role in August 2023.
