Energy Safe Victoria’s social media profiles provide important community safety information, Energy Safe news, and critical information during emergency events impacting energy use.
Energy Safe’s social media pages are for information only. Do not report an emergency on social media. For emergencies call Triple Zero (000).
The social media terms of use outline the rights of Energy Safe Victoria when engaging with the public through social media, enabling consistent application across all the social media accounts, and establishing expectations and rules of engagement between the Energy Safe and the public.
Social media contributors should familiarise themselves with, and must agree to, the Terms of Use before participating in social media. If you do not accept these Terms of Use, you must refrain from using or engaging with Energy Safe’s social media accounts. These Terms of Use may be modified at any time. It is your responsibility to keep up to date with modifications to the Terms of Use.
To ensure a safe environment for all members of our social media community, we ask users to abide by these Terms of Use and we reserve the right to remove any content we deem inappropriate.
Hours of operation
Energy Safe’s social media pages are monitored Monday to Friday, from 8:30am to 5pm (excluding public holidays).
We endeavour to answer any queries posted to our social media accounts as soon as possible within these working hours. However, sometimes we may need to check with other members of our team to ensure you get the right answer and in these instances, it may take us longer to respond.
Moderation guidelines
Australia has strict anti-discrimination laws. Energy Safe acts in accordance with these laws all times. We are committed to promoting an inclusive and respectful community and take a strong stance on content which we deem to be discriminatory.
Energy Safe’s social media administrators reserve the right to delete any posted content that we deem to be offensive, insulting, inappropriate or irrelevant to the purpose of Energy Safe.
Comments, visuals, videos and other types of material posted on our social media pages by individuals do not necessarily reflect the opinions of Energy Safe Victoria. Energy Safe Victoria does not endorse this material and is not responsible for its accuracy.
Unacceptable content includes, but is not limited to;
- material (or links to material) that is obscene, offensive, pornographic, vulgar, profane, indecent or otherwise illegal
- remarks that racially or religiously vilifies, incites violence or hatred, or is likely to offend, insult or humiliate others based on race, religion, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation or any physical or mental disability
- defamatory content, personal attacks, abuse and threats to cause physical or mental harm
- content which you know (or could reasonably be expected to know) is false, misleading or deceptive
- advertisng or offers to sell any good or services, contains spam or any other unsolicited commercial message
- material which may infringe on the intellectual property rights of others
- material which includes personal or sensitive information about third parties
- any content not related to Energy Safe or our areas of responsibility.
Repeated breaches of these moderation guidelines may result in you being banned from any or all of Energy Safe’s social media pages. If you see anything on any of Energy Safe Victoria’s social media pages that you believe breaches these terms of use, please contact us at communications@energysafe.vic.gov.au.
Intellectual property
By submitting a contribution, you accept full responsibility for ensuring that in making your contribution your intellectual property rights are not lost or diminished. This is for your own protection.
Energy Safe does not warrant that any material or information you contribute will be protected against loss, misuse or alteration by third-parties.
If your contribution includes material in which the copyright is owned by another person or entity, you warrant that you have obtained all necessary permissions, authorisations, licences and consents required for the use of such materials and have made arrangements for the payment of any royalties or other fees payable in respect of the use of such material.
Your privacy
Any information you post on social media may be available for the public to see. You should check your individual privacy settings and the privacy policies associated with each social media platform.
Energy Safe uses social media including Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube to communicate with the public and with the organisations we regulate.
Energy Safe may collect information posted on social media, including for the purpose of engaging with and understanding the views of the community and as otherwise authorised by law. This may include responding to your message or comment or providing you with related information. Energy Safe is not responsible for the privacy practices of the third parties such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube who set Cookies in connection with social media services.
